Preschoolers are looked after in the Coxwell, Gainsborough, Jones, Queensdale, Etobicoke and Richview centres. The pedagogical practices and interventions that we use in our program are focused on the child’s needs and interests. They are designed to allow the child to discover the joy of learning by playing and exploring, while returning to his relationship with his peers and adults. The program’s spirit recognizes the child as a unique person, competent and engaged in the process of his own learning. The child needs to be encouraged in his efforts and supported in his motivation to learn, while feeling that his specific characteristics and pace are respected.
Stimulating and enriching activities are scheduled to meet and satisfy the curiosity of the preschool-aged child. Our educators support, participate and interact with the children to stimulate their reflexes and help them broaden their interests to reinforce their learning. Let us not forget the parents who play a significant role in their children’s education – their participation, suggestions and their presence are welcome in our programs. This pedagogy lets our preschoolers make the transition to kindergarten smoothly and comfortably.
